General Surgery

The General Surgery Department has surgeons trained to deal with ailments that requires a surgical procedure.

The General Surgery Department has been the highlight of the Hospital since its inception with the first patient to be operated upon was none other than the then Nursing Matron, Miss Margaret E Buckley.

The Hospital was opportune to have the services of the founder, Rev. Hugh Gordon Roberts a pioneer surgeon, who exponentially increased the Hospital with his innate ability, to become one of the best Hospitals in Northeast India.

Furthermore, Dr. Robert Arthur Hughes, a highly qualified and gifted surgeon took over and lifted the surgical practice to another standard of medical care.

The Hospital was fortunate to have services of other notable Doctors and Surgeons who continued the surgical work to aid the poor, namely, Dr. P.N. Chatterjee, Dr. V.D. Mishra, Dr.Shibu P. Sengupta, Dr. G.K. Das, Dr.Pherlok Lamare, Dr. G.B. Khonglah,   Dr. F. Ranee and Dr.Madhai Gangmei.

A new generation of surgeons with the vision and wisdom to venture into new avenues led to further growth of the Department, namely Dr.Vasanth Samuel, Dr.Lurstep Wanshnong, Dr.Arpit Matthew, Dr. Cornerstone V. Wann, Dr. Kenneth R. L. Nongpiur, Dr. Diana Lalnunpuii and Dr.Kynsaibor Khyllep.
