Nursing Services
The Nursing Services of Dr. H. Gordon Roberts Hospital was started since the inception of the Hospital itself. From the beginning, training in caregiving was given to the female nurses. When Dr. Roberts first arrived in Shillong and began building the hospital, he understood the need for proper training and nursing services. So, he entrusted the training of the nurses to Miss Margaret Elizabeth Buckley in 1919. She understood the need of local girls to be trained in nursing to ease the patients at the hospital and encouraged the local girls to take up training as a nurse. This led to the birth of the School of Nursing.
